Editorial methodology

What qualifies

A source must publish substantive macroeconomic research, data or policy analysis; have an identifiable publisher; and offer a stable way to access its work.

Inclusion is based on usefulness and editorial fit. It is not an endorsement of every view expressed by the publisher, nor a guarantee that every item will suit every reader.

How we assess

Editors record ownership, topical and geographic coverage, access model, formats, delivery, cadence and a concise “best for” judgment.

Ownership

Official publishers speak for a public institution; independent publishers are editorially separate from the institutions they cover; commercial publishers sell research, data or related services.

Access

Public sources are open to everyone. Others may require registration, a paid subscription or an invitation. Pricing and access are recorded separately so the practical route to the research is clear.

Editorial judgment

“Best for” and editorial notes explain where a source is most useful. They are contextual judgments, not scores, rankings or investment recommendations.

How we verify

Official and independent sources are reviewed at least annually; commercial and changing-access sources every six months. Community corrections trigger an earlier check.

Verification confirms that the publisher, access route and editorial description still match the source. A stale label signals that the record is due for another review; it does not by itself mean the publisher is unreliable.

Commercial boundaries

Payment cannot buy inclusion, a higher position or a favourable assessment. Featured selections reflect editorial emphasis. Sponsored placements are commercially funded and are labelled at card and section level.

A sponsored placement requires a visible disclosure. Relevant relationships or limitations that could affect how a listing is understood are recorded alongside the source.

Corrections and removals

Material errors are corrected with a dated note. Inactive records remain available to editors when needed for saved-stack continuity and historical context, clearly labelled as inactive wherever they are shown.

Sources that no longer meet the inclusion criteria can be hidden from public discovery while the editorial record and review history are retained.
